First hardback publication UK H&S 1933 (MCMXXXIII) titled Once More the Saint in black cloth covers, USA by The Crime Club 1933 titled The Saint and Mr Teal. H&S adopted the latter title with their 1950 reprint.
Consists of three novellas:
The Gold Standard, originally published in The Thriller October 15 1932 as The Gold Flood. A mad scientist has discovered how to make the stuff out of base metal;
The Man from Saint Louis, originally published in The Thriller November 19 1932 as‘The Saint’ - Hijacker. The eponymous gangster is on the run in England from a Chinese gang and decides London is a soft target for his activities; and
The Death Penalty, written specially for this book. The story explains why Galbraith Stride was hanged. The action takes place in the Scilly Isles where Simon is pitted against an evil Arab white slave trafficker.
